Trough the years, over 120 artists have created more than 4000 tapestries and collective works of various sizes and styles. L’Atelier le Fil d’Ariane is well known for it’s exhibitions through out Canada, Europe, the United States and in Japan.

Our embroidery approach involves the use of burlap that is cut to size by an artisan based on our most popular formats. Each artisan then draws an image of their own creation on the burlap using oil pastels. Once the drawing is finished the special education art teacher selects various colors of dyed yarn that matches as much as possible the pastels used by the artisan.

Next the artisan embroiders the drawing on burlap using specialized wool (DMC). The embroidery technique used is referred to as a stem stitch. A sewing instructor is then responsible for straightening the contours of the embroidery, and supervises the artisan in the finishing of the piece (the lining, the crochet loops, and the signing of the piece by the artisan).
